Challenge 18

Commando Challenge (June)

Now we’re talking tough! Challenge 18 is to complete the Royal Marines endurance course – the very same one used by them at the end of their arduous & near impossible 32 week military training – based down at the Commando Training Centre at Royal Marines Lympstone, Devon.

The 11 mile route includes a 4 mile run out to Woodbury Common, where we’ll tackle 3 miles of undulating forest trails, tunnels, Smartie Tubes, Peter’s Pool, the Crocodile Pit and the infamous Sheep Dip (see below), before heading back on the 4 mile return journey – somewhat wetter & I imagine more beaten than at the start!

I feel very honoured to have the chance to complete this course, and if only momentarily, stepping in my brother’s Royal Marine recruit footsteps.

Per mare, Per Terram.
